Dreaming of a Nigeria ...

I'm dreaming of a Nigeria where:

Everyone can get quality education, because its their RIGHT, not because their parents are paying some serious naira for it

Health care is available to everyone no matter how much money you have or who you know at the hospital, why should people be treated at a hospital on a who-you-know basis? or on how much money they have in their pocket?

the roads are better

Jobs are created for university graduates and the rest of the unemployed population

Polititians/Gov't officials stop STEALING ALL THE MONEY and sending their children to TOP-NOTCH schools in the US/UK/Canada and wherever the hell they send them to, while children back in Nigeria dont even have so much as a chair to SIT ON IN CLASS!! These same "politians" take money and never use it to improve the country...

Electricity is constant

Water is readily available --this is a basic human necessity!!

People especially children arent dying of curable diseases

the discrepancy between the rich and the poor doesnt have a big GAPING hole in between...

Citizens know they are secure no matter what

those in diaspora look forward to going to

young people can say: I can STAY in Nigeria and be SUCCESSFUL.

People arent lined up at the US/UK/Canadian/Amsterdam/German/Chinese embassy trying to get out of Nigeria as quickly as possible...

the leaders become an example for other world leaders to emulate

you could say I'm really dreaming, but never say never. I have hope

  1. FIRST!!!

I understand that this is a dream..
But permit me to inject your post with "reality".

@ Everyone can get quality education, because its their RIGHT, not because their parents are paying some serious naira for it

Pray tell, how will we get this quality education if we don't pay for it? Education is not a right it is a responsibility lol.

Healthcare also is not a right. It is a blend of right/responsibility..

Where is the money going to come from, to pay for all these things? Seriously, a lot of you need to switch your majors to political cience or something. Because a lot of people think money grows on trees.
I disagreed with ur first two main points, but everything after that is ON POINT!!!

  3. of course it takes money for good quality healthcare etc but the ppl who have the MOST of it get the better quality of it, it shouldnt be like that, so if im sitting in a hospital should i die becuase i dont have enough money, while the person who has money gets treated? Should my child get lower quality education just because they are not at some european int'l school?

  4. Omg. This is such a great post. Something that is always behind my mind.

Wonder how life had been if Nigeria is up to par with other industrilized countries. It almost makes me angry. The other day I saw a post about the president purchasing 9 - 85 Million Naira bulletproof cars, which is equivilant to 500,000 dollars. Can you believe that ish? Makes me a bit mad, about the corruption going on. But hey... everything is where its at for a reason.

  5. thanks k,
@ naija festish, u know I really do question the motives of a lot of govt officials not just in Naija but other places abroad, all governents no matter where they are, all want to get theirs and theirs only, they dont care about the people. anyway those govt officials in naija wont go unpunished walahi talahi... i want to see a CHANGE, you think our parents like living abroad? hmm they r looking for their retirement spot and nigeria is suppose to be it

  6. That's true. And my parents and I actually discussed about it. It is sad though, kind of makes me wonder why God allows so much evil to come up to the surface. But everything is for a reason, no? I know my parents are going to be relaxing in Nigeria in their later years. Already got the house all out. But it's just crazy to me. Hmmmn. Nigeria. Curse or Blessing?
