Today is black friday and the scene at the mall was quite sickening--I really should have added black friday to my listed of things I find overrated. I didnt go shopping because its pure madness at the stores/malls --but its really quite irritating that Americans are the way they are. We are always thinking that we need more of everything. We need more shoes, bags, jeans, jewelry, tops, ipods, lipgloss, food etc. but in reality we have more than enough. We have a plethora of fastfood resturants which is a result of our obesity problem, and those same fastfood resturants throw away pounds of food each day when there are people starving right outside!!This country is the most wasteful on this earth, I hate to sound like I hate my "country" but I mean c'mon!! Americans only think about themselves, they only know their 'culture' ( and Idk if fastfood, pop music, sex ,and bbqs is culture but whatever!) It makes me go maddd when I see people, in this country begging for food or money and people roll up their windows and act as if they dont have anything to offer. I know some of these people are on drugs, but I also know that most of them are retired vets who are out on the streets because their so called country doesnt give a damn about them.
I'm sick of the whole Christmas thing and how its presented in this country.Looking in on it from a commercialized POV Its really just a holiday where u put up some pine tree, stick some lights on it,tell ur kids to put out stale cookies for good ol st.nick and usher them off to bed, go out on black friday and buy as many presents for whom ever and stick them under the tree. Your the worst parent ever if ur teenage daughter doesnt get the $700 Jimmy Choos shes been asking for for months...and may God punish ur head if u dont get the barbie dreamhouse, and other nonsense toys that ur kids are asking for....this Christmas, I dont want anything, I dont want anything to do with Christmas. Christmas should celebrate Christ, it should be a time to reflect with family and enjoy their company ( with food of course!) Instead people teach their kids to buy buy buy buy buy! They teach them to never be satisfied with what they have, they teach them that what they have isnt enough so they need more and more, and thats sad.

Thanksgiving was nice and I'm thankful for soo many things...
We had turkey ( of course) moi moi, jellof rice, banga soup/fufu,meat pie, cornbread, baked mac and cheese and Nigerian style salad...my cousin brought apple pie and drinks...shes so Americanized its not even funny lmao, she came with her childhood friend and her boyfriend who's white, hes a cool dude sha...hes funny, likes kids, good job....my aunt was even wondering when he was going to ask him to marry her lol, then she proceeded to ask her friend where her boyfriend was!!! Shes living with this guy, probably sleeping with him too ( like i really wanna know if this is true!)and they've been together for over a year,( i think 2 or 3 yrs) and shes in her late twenties and so is he, haa if she wants to get married then she berra do so oh, but i dont think moving in together is a good idea, i think it breaks up couples faster and then they dont make it down the isle, but hey im just a kid what do i know?!!
By 5:30-6 we started eating, by 8:00 everyone was gone, and I even forgot that I invited one of my friends, shes from Cameroon, and she really doesnt have much family here , so I kuku txt am tell am say make she begin dey get ready make i pick am up lera.I was tired and told her I would bring her food instead ( yea thats mean I know! ) and I met up with her and brought her food and drinks and she was telling me what the guy she used to go out with was doing, how he was talking to another girl ( but her later deleted her number) and this is the same guy who threw her out in the summer and even called the police, put her thru hell. The guy is really nice despite all that, but it had me thinking: Girls put up with a lot from guys, I mean we take so much shit from them and we say that we are going to do this and that and tell him this, that and the other thing but we never follow thru, we allow ourselves to be used and we go thru soo much for no reason, its really sad actually because its pretty safe to say that many guys wouldnt put up with a lot, then take the same person whos been giving them hell back...
Its time for women to stop putting up with so much sh.it, and making excuses for why men are the way they are and why they do the things they do. I cant shout.
Happy Thanksgiving ( If ur celebrating it)

Overrated
Some things I feel are just overrated:
Designer clothing: hmmm Naija ppl love designer stuffs sha. Especially the guys...they must have a gushi belt to complete the outfit no matter what. But I feel like just because its designer doesnt really mean that the quality is better. Designer clothing does rip, however if you go into stores like tellos, rainbows and even forver21, then what you see is what you really get..hey!
but really--NOBODY CARES THAT YOU HAVE TRUE RELIGION JEANS...no one cares that you have 3 fendi purses or 10 pairs of chanel pumps....especially in America....and no one cares if you have an iphone a nokia e70 or a freakin blackberry!!.you know its really sick when ppl come into department stores ( in this case it was two naija women) asking for freakin true religion for their kids...like WOW are ur kids suppose to be better than the rest just because they have on true religion?
America/anywhere Abroad- The so called land of milk and honey is now dry. Milk ke?! Milk no dey again. Just because you are in America/UK or Canada, it doesnt mean you are better than those back home, it doesnt mean you are rich and it doesnt mean you will become a rapper and meet 50 cents and busta reems,it most certainly doesnt mean all ur problems are over, they hv just begun ohh and whats with some Nigerians who were born and raised in naija but feel as though they cant survive in Nigeria (even js for a visit) just because they are too used to America/UK or Canada? " Oh I cant eat the food", its too hot" " the water is dirty" before you came abroad nko? u survived shey? common gerrout!
Trends: ah ah, high waisted jeans today, tommorow na skinny leg. Trends are just a waste. Spending lots of money on trends are a waste too, thats what forever 21 is for. Its cheap, so when the trend is sooo "out" give it away or burn it...
Christmas- Why do we ( especially Americans) put so much emphasis on only buying presents for Christmas? Why do some parents buy their 4 kids, 10 presents each? what happened to donating and giving to those who are wayy less fortunate?
Holidays in Naij- What I mean by this is when ppl who are going to Nigeria from abroad go out and buy lots of expensive things to wear. I dont know if it is to show everyone that they are from somewhere abroad with a horrible yankee/jand/canadian accent to match or because they want to show the less fortunate how fortunate they are....
Revealing clothing- I mean common, leave something to the imagination, be a mystery or woreva...short skirts , other tight clothing and low cut tops are not cute. These types of clothing never fail u (especially at a club)if you are insecure and want to be looked at like a piece of meat...dont say i didnt warn u!
Clubs- I really dont like clubs. I went to one or maybe two and will prolly never go again. I guess I'm not really a club person. To me, clubbing is all about: men and women grinding their sweaty horny bodies against each other, people getting loud and drunk, hook ups/ one night stands....blah blah blah boring....anyone who can club every single weekend is a beast...na wa o
Cute guys- If you are cute and thats all...then what? berra have something to back that cuteness up....
blackberries/touch phones/ iphone- ahh its too much jare, bbbb pin, download this n that...that 1 na headache
Rappers- what do they really do anyway...I dont care if u call it " hating" I call it having an opinion, but seriously what do they do? hang around groupies, get on stage and spew nonsense hopping across the stage all outta breath, and go to clubs/parties, drop insane amounts of cash on everything from clothes, cars, houses and women...dont get me wrong there are some that dont do that, and there are some that run charities and what not, but this is what is portrayed in the media.
maybe you guys are askin, ah ah wetin b ha own? but hey i say what i feel jo!

Interesting Sunday
Today ( or should I say yesterday) was quite a Sunday. Went to church, I went to see a french play ( for class!!) and went to a Nigerian organization meeting thingy. It was actually fun, Nigerian adults arent as intimidating as they look, really funny actually. Anyway my uncle asked me to pick up his friend from Nigeria at the train station and on the way we ( me and my sister) got into an accident, it was actually a 3 person accident. The front of my uncles car got MESSED up but we were ok, my sister is pretty tall ( 6'3) so her knees went right into the dashboard, i didnt hit anything but it was sort of scary and the breaks sort of failed me too. Well the officer said we could still make it to the station so we went and got my uncles friend and went to the ER afterwards, my sister got crutches and we left before it was my turn, they were taking long, but now I wish I stayed because I'm sort of feeling the after effects of this whole thing. Im really not trying to sound like a bible pusher or anything but I really do thank God that it wasnt serious, lots of kids lose their lives to car accidents so Im truly grateful. My brother and cousin called my sister to ask if she was ok, umm hello? i b chop liver abi? and when my sister called my mother to tell her what happened ( she was still at the meeting) everyone flew into a panic and a nice ( and cute!! hehe) young man who goes to the meetings wanted my number to call and see if we were ok, hmmm I thought maybe he just wanted my number maybe because I'm seggzyy ( lol. i kid) but he was sincere about it and i appreciated that. He called but I was getting all these calls that I missed his. I texted him though. I'm grateful for people like him. Im also grateful for people who will jump out of their cars just to help you push yours to a gas station in the cold ( yea it happened on the way to the hospital smh) People like that give me hope that not all people are cold hearted. Hmmm which leads me to my list for what I look for in a mate lol, its quite random but hey I cant help it.
Here it goes:

Naija state of mind/transfering/crazy day at court

So its official, I'm going to Nigeria ( Lagos and Benin), but not for christmas. I am excited! Ive never been to Nigeria but ive heard its fun -- I'm happy to be leaving the states for a while ( credit card ppl wan kill me) I'm not sure how hot or warm its going to be so I need some tips on what to pack ( sneakers? sandals, light cardigans? ) and also what cosmetics to bring? Is power ok? Should I bring acne face/body washes so I dont get pimples from the hot weather? idk i just dont want to look busted with pimples all over ( im meeting some family members for the first time o!) and what about hair styles? will a lace front in a longer style be too much? What are some of the popular beaches/malls/stores/movie theaters/restaurants/markets? I have a fair amount of young cousins ( my age) but im sort of shy to ask them questions lmao i dont why but i am, and they are all coming here anyway so i might not even be with them most of the time...I know im askin lots of questions but I'm curious o!
HAPPY14TH BIRTHDAY TO MY CUZZO!! ( just had to put that in there haha)

-on another note, Im trying to transfer for fall '10. I have a couple of schools in mind, some in Philly, one in LA...but I want to know about good colleges for international law...any suggestions?
So what I really wanted to post is what happened yesterday at court. My parents are divorced(about time). John sr ( thats what I call him) was always cheating/ beating on my mother so finally in 07 she threw his ass out....his shit was sitting on the porch, hangers and all lmao. So john sr is "dating" i mean using * cough* cough* my moms ex- best friend( can u imagine) and this lady is a straight up ASHEWO,seriously she sleeps with anything that has a heart beat. shes accusing my mother of making threats and saying she was going to kill her baby ( na wa o which 46 yr old dey born pikin? and for whia ) so we went to court yesterday...and john sr went with his "lady" to support her and LMAO this "lady" looked like ass twice warmed over. She had a lop sided ass wig with a penis shaped hump on top, lookin like a damn cone head . She had on some cheap ass flea market shoes and bag to match. Her and John sr were even matching o! Brown blazers, jeans and all. She looked HIT, no lie. Anyway the case was dismissed so my mother won. She didnt do anything so wor d hell she had to win and all her friends and our family members came out to support her. After we left court we had to get our tickets stamped for parking so we went into the store. John sr comes in and starts conversing with me and my uncle like everything was all gravy ( john sr is a mad man sha) and I started yelling at him telling him how hes chosing that ashewo over his kids, my uncle was also telling him the same thing. This "lady" starts saying oh dont mind them. She started getting closer to me so I started yelling at her I wanted to pull that rats nest she called a wig off her head. My uncle and aunts came to hold me down, and an undercover cop showed up and called the police....everything got blown up as usual...hey we're in america right? Americans like to blow up every little effin thing and at that moment I was wishing I was anywhere but here so i can js use hand tey sound am...that stupid man( john sr)...he gave that STUPID ASHEWO'S daughter ( who is all the way at Howard) my number to start cussin me out..then he called me...to tell me WHAT? god punish their heads.
NOTE:
if anyone goes to Howard beware of a girl who has a monkey-like appearance and a weave that looks more like a poodle on her head. She dresses like tellos/rainbows exploded in her closet,.Her face has been known to cause dizziness, shortness of breath and fainting.Consider yourself warned !

In between the two.
Sometimes I get stuck between the two cultures. I feel like if I act more American Im being disloyal to my naija side. I mean I love Nigeria, theres no other country I would rather come from. Ive never really been there, well I had my 1st bday there but I dont count that lol. But despite the problems in Nigeria, despite the negative aspects of Nigeria, I have love for Nigeria thru and thru. The Nigerian in me is the ogbono soup between my tongue. It is every fiber of my being, it manifests it self through everything that I do. There are so many things I love about being Nigerian; I love the food, I love the people, I love how we are the most educated immigrants in the U.S, I love how we stand out no matter where we are.
I call myself an 'American' because its simply my birthright...everything this side of me lacks, my Nigerian side makes up for it. The way I walk, talk and dress all stem from my 'American' upbringing, and I keep my Nigerian values close to me.
Sometimes I feel lost. Like a little fish in a big pond. I know my culture, I know where I come from, no doubt and not speaking my parents native language says otherwise. Its quite embarrasing. Its funny because I can remember my cousin ( who just came from Nigeria) saying that Nigerians born in America are 'fake' Nigerians; we dont know our language or culture and we havent been to Nigeria, thus we are sell outs. It made me laugh because this guy is already heavily assimilated to our culture, if thats what you would call it. When he first came, all he really wanted was "Mackdonoold" lmao, and he tried learning our 'slang' lmao. I wondered who the sell outs were. If we were fake Nigerians then he had to be a fake American...
If I were a Nigerian born and raised in Nigeria, I feel as though I wouldnt be struggling with this so much, because I would have no ties to America. I would see it as just another man's country, and I'm just living in it. I wonder if I would see America the same way. Would I be eager to get to the so called land of 'milk and honey'? Would I feel like coming to America was the only way to lead a happy, successful life? Would I be offended if someone called me a FOB? ( fresh off the boat, no vex na d equivilent of jjc!)
I'm just saying tho..

my obssession
right now I'm OBSESSED with lace front wigs. Maybe its because I have alopecia. Most cost $100 + I even saw some for $2,000-3,000. My insurance pays for most "cranial prosthesises" so thats one good thing about having alopecia, I guess. I like this Indian remy one from lovemylacewigs.com. If someone was to put it on, it would look quite obvious that she was wearing a lace front though ( the hairline is too straight)...its cute but not something I would get if I was ready to buy one but I still like it..

I met him on friday, yea friday...or was it thursday..? ( at a basketball game) Tall, chocolate, and handsome...hahah he definately passed my criteria in the looks department :) and his eyes were the color of honey, so pretty and bright.
He had been sitting behind me the whole time and I could see him stealing glances at me from the corner of my eye.He had on a grey fitted and he had a goatee ( it looked nice on him sha) he was looking good o! My cousin kept turning back talking to him and his friend, and at that point I was sort of confused because I didnt know my cousin knew him and his friend, I thought the guy was just one random . I couldnt wait till the game was over so proper introduction could take place *wink wink* ahahah. So after the game he 'greets' my mother and turns to me to shake my hand, he seemed to be shaking it for the longest time, and he started askin me questions like 'how tall are you?' blah blah. He told me he was yoruba and his family was in Nigeria', and that he was a sophomore at the school ( where the basketball game was). I was getting kinda shy so I kind of distanced myself from him and let my cousin talk to him, since they were friends I guess. I forgot his name though, it was one looonng yourba name sha, he repeated it several times but I couldnt pronounce it, and hes funny too ahh a perfect combination ;-) we stayed a little bit late almost 12 and me and my sister had to go, my cousin was sleeping over. I told him I would be visiting soon ( my bro goes to the same school) and that he should keep me entertained when I got there, I gave him a hug and his friend ( and i hate giving and receiving hugs o!) but this one was too fine oh, he deserved one, and I was definately enjoying the way he was holdin on to my waist :)...Im in like!!
what can I say? Im single and ready to mingle!!

SEXY IS...
I got this from Ekene Agabu from www.sexisr.com:
SEXY IS knowing that there is more to someone than just their body.
SEXY IS lending a helping hand to those in need.
SEXY IS being true to yourself
SEXY IS living life from within; knowing who you are and loving who you are
SEXY IS having SELF CONTROL.
SEXY IS doing right, when right doesn't seem popular.
SEXY IS looking in the mirror and appreciating what you see.
SEXY IS looking attractive but not cheap.
SEXY IS having a positive attitude no matter what.
SEXY IS rising about all restrictions placed on you by others.
SEXY IS knowing that the person you see in the mirror, can change the world.
SEXY IS wanting a woman for a lifetime and not just for the night
SEXY IS wholesome and wholesome IS SEXY.
SEXY IS being so good at what you do, they call you BAD
SEXY IS looking good, feeling good but most of all being good.
SEXY IS how you truly feel about you when no one is watching.
SEXY IS knowing that you do not need to have sex to feel sexy.

Lust list
I dont know why I blog...
I really dont know why I blog, especially since I have a journal/diary...but I need to write because I love writing err... i mean typing :)
Olu is really starting to get on my NERVES. I dont know what possessed me to start talking to him again. Hes not a bad person at all but my goodness hes just so hannoying!!! After all he did, he now turned around to say it was my fault, can you imagine? I started to realize that we are just not compatable. He feels its ok to have sex with a woman that hes not committed to ( marriage) and I dont ( not really trying to get into the whole premartial sex issue abeg). He just has the craziest justifications as to why its okay to sleep with girls for his own selfish lustful needs( although he didnt say its for selfish-lustful reasons). I refused to give in to his needs. I am not a car, I dont need to be taken for a test drive before the decision on whether I 'drive' well is made. I know Ive made some mistakes in the past and I'm wise enough now not to make the same ones. Olu really isnt helping me keep from making these mistakes I'm trying to avoid. Im tired of talking o, I'm just going to completely stop talking to him. I have better & more exciting things to look foreward to. I'm not cut out for relationships. Maybe I'll stay single, adopt children and travel around the world until I need botox and hip replacements ...
yours truly

Just some thoughts....
Halloween was fun, I got to take my cousins out...reminded me of my trick o treatin days...
So today we all went to church, feelin a lil sick from that candy, and I talked to my cousins who are coming over from Naija. very exciting....anyway.....
Olu emails me today saying he misses me, and we should just kiss and make up...I'm playing along but I have something up my sleeve...I'm gonna show him pepper!
